Absolutely! Many students find it challenging to access specialized flute or recorder tuition nearby. By learning online, you get top-tier professional guidance from the comfort of your own home. Beyond saving time and travel expenses, online lessons offer flexible scheduling and the chance to share your musical journey with a friendly, supportive student community.
How old do I need to be to start learning? ▾
Music is for everyone! For flute, we can begin with younger children around age 6 using a fife or recorder as a fun stepping stone, with standard flute lessons typically starting around age 8. Piano lessons are available for aspiring musicians starting at age 4, though we do ask that parents join in and supervise those early sessions. Best of all? There is no upper age limit—it is truly never too late to start your musical journey!
Do I need a piano or flute before my first lesson? ▾
You will need an instrument to practice on, but it doesn’t have to be a major investment right away! A simple fife, recorder, or an inexpensive keyboard is plenty to get you started. If you’re unsure what to choose, please feel free to ask me for recommendations before making a purchase—I’m always happy to help you find the right fit!
What happens if I need to miss a lesson? ▾
To reserve your dedicated regular time slot, lessons are booked and paid for half a term in advance. If you ever have to miss a scheduled session, don’t worry—I will record a personalized video lesson during your slot and send it over so you won’t miss a beat!
Alternatively, if you prefer maximum flexibility rather than a fixed weekly slot, you are welcome to book one-off pay-as-you-go lessons in any open slots available each week.
What happens if I lose my internet connection during a lesson? ▾
Technical hiccups happen! If your connection drops during our session, we can easily switch over to a WhatsApp video call to keep going. If we aren’t able to re-establish a live connection, I will use the remaining time in your slot to record a custom video lesson and send it directly to you so you don’t miss out.
